Science Outreach

I have had an active interest in science public outreach for many years. During my last year as an undergraduate at the University of St Andrews, I was heavily involved with the Vision for the Future physics outreach project and toured the exhibit round schools and science festivals across the UK. As part of my MPhys thesis, I investigated public attitudes towards science, science communication methods, and critically assessed this specific outreach initiative.

Since graduating in 2008, I have conitnued to support science outreach by becoming a STEM Ambassador and a STEM Challenges judge for the South East of England and a CREST award assessor. I also am assistant co-orindator for the Oxfordshire Science Festival and eMentor young people interested in science careers through  Big Bang Blogs. I have also made my profile available on Life Lab to help young people understand how a career in science can lead into different sectors.
